Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 8 oz hot sausage (Italian or your choice), cooked and crumbled
  • 1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup tomato sauce or pizza sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for extra spice)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning (optional, for extra flavor)
  • Fresh arugula or spinach (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven while it preheats.
  2. Prepare the Dough: Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface to your desired thickness. Transfer the dough to a baking sheet or pizza stone.
  3. Pre-Bake the Dough: Brush the dough with olive oil and pre-bake it in the oven for 5 minutes, until it begins to firm up but isn’t fully cooked.
  4. Add Sauce and Cheese: Spread a thin layer of tomato sauce over the pre-baked crust. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce.
  5. Add Sausage and Feta: Evenly distribute the cooked sausage over the pizza, followed by the crumbled feta cheese.
  6. Bake: Return the pizza to the oven and bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
  7. Add Honey: Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a minute. Drizzle the honey evenly over the top of the pizza.
  8. Garnish and Serve: If desired, top the pizza with fresh arugula or spinach. Slice and serve hot.

Notes

Sausage Selection: Italian hot sausage is the classic choice, but chorizo or spicy turkey sausage work well too.

Cheese Alternatives: Goat cheese, ricotta, or Parmesan can be used instead of feta for a different texture and flavor.

Honey Drizzle: Always add honey AFTER baking to preserve its sweetness and avoid burning. For extra spice, use hot honey instead.

Crispy Crust Tips: Pre-bake the crust for a few minutes, use a pizza stone, and bake at high heat (475°F/245°C) for the best results.

Vegetarian Option: Swap the sausage for spicy roasted chickpeas, mushrooms with smoked paprika, or plant-based sausage.

Storage & Reheating: Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven at 375°F (190°C) for 5–7 minutes for the best texture.
