Ready in under 30 minutes, they balance sweet, spicy, and umami notes for a crowd-pleasing dish that’s as effortless as it is irresistible.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 pieces of flatbread (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup ricotta cheese (optional for creaminess)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (for brushing the flatbread)

For the Hot Honey Garlic Sauce:

  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp hot honey (or regular honey with a pinch of red pepper flakes for heat)
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (adjust to heat preference)
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven:

    1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). If you’re using a baking sheet, line it with parchment paper for easy cleanup.

  2. Prepare the flatbreads:

    1. Brush each flatbread lightly with olive oil and place them on a baking sheet or directly on the oven rack for a crispier crust.

    2. Bake the flatbreads in the preheated oven for 5-7 minutes or until they are golden and slightly crispy.

  3. Make the hot honey garlic sauce:

    1. While the flatbreads are baking, melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat.

    2. Add the minced garlic to the butter and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant but not browned.

    3. Stir in the hot honey (or regular honey with red pepper flakes), soy sauce, and red pepper flakes.

    4. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly. Remove from heat.

  4. Assemble the pizzas:

    1. Once the flatbreads are crispy, remove them from the oven.

    2. Spread a thin layer of ricotta cheese (if using) on each flatbread, followed by a generous amount of shredded mozzarella cheese.

    3. Drizzle the hot honey garlic sauce evenly over the top of each flatbread pizza.

  5. Bake the pizzas:

    1. Return the flatbreads to the oven and bake for another 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

  6. Garnish and serve:

    1. Once out of the oven, garnish with chopped fresh parsley for a pop of color and extra flavor.

    2. Slice and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Adjusting Heat: Start with ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes; increase in ¼-teaspoon increments until you hit your ideal spice level. Fresh sliced chiles deliver a sharper kick than flakes.
  • Make-Ahead Sauce: Prepare the hot honey garlic sauce up to 5 days in advance. Store in an airtight jar in the fridge and gently rewarm before assembling.
  • Flatbread Options: Naan offers a pillowy chew, lavash yields a cracker-thin bite, and pita provides natural edges to contain toppings. Certified gluten-free varieties work equally well.
  • Cheese Swaps: Use part-skim mozzarella for lighter melt, goat cheese for tang, or vegan “mozzarella” for a dairy-free twist.
  • Baking Tips: For extra-crispy crust, bake directly on a preheated pizza stone or inverted baking sheet. If using a grill, watch closely—flatbreads char in under 2 minutes.
  • Storage & Reheat: Store baked slices in the fridge (up to 3 days) or freezer (up to 2 months). Reheat at 375 °F for 5–7 minutes to restore crispness; avoid the microwave to prevent sogginess.
  • Variations: Try a Thai spin with peanut sauce and cilantro, a Mexican take with cotija and lime crema, or top with scrambled eggs and sausage for brunch.
